🪔 Festive Ready AI: Your Ultimate Gamified Styling Hub

We’ve all been there—festive season rolls around, and suddenly you’re juggling a dozen different tabs, trying to figure out what outfit matches who, worrying about budgets, wondering how a piece of clothing will actually look on, and scrambling to put together a family greeting card at the very last minute. It gets stressful, fast.

That’s why I built Festive Ready AI—a solo project designed to turn the chaos of family festive shopping into something genuinely fun.

I wanted to create an RPG-inspired styling adventure where prepping for a celebration feels just like gearing up your character for a major quest. Instead of bouncing across endless websites and apps, you can plan, try on, equip, and celebrate all in one seamless flow: Plan → Try → Equip → Prepare → Celebrate.

🎮 What Makes It Feel Like a Game?

The core of the experience revolves around the RPG Dressing Chamber. Here, family members aren't just names on a list—they are your Festive Squad (playable styling profiles)!

Each profile tracks everything you need to keep things organized:

  • Personalization: Name, age group, and style/fit preferences.
  • Budgeting: Dedicated budget tracking for each member.
  • Visuals: Upload standing photos and save style preferences.
  • Equipment: Slots for actual outfits, jewelry, shoes, and accessories.
  • Progress: Virtual try-on previews and finalized looks.

1. The Festival Planner

Kick things off by picking the celebration you're gearing up for—whether it's Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, or Diwali. Set your celebrations and keep track of upcoming festivities with built-in reminders so nothing sneaks up on you.

2. The RPG Dressing Chamber

This is where the magic happens. Step away from boring e-commerce grids and style your squad like true heroes. You can upload real photos, leverage AI try-ons, use zoom controls, and watch your equipped outfits come together visually.

3. Real Festive Products & Smart Filtering

Browse curated collections spanning traditional outfits, stunning jewelry, footwear, and accessories. Every item comes equipped with its details, price, color, and a direct View Product link to the real retailer. Filter everything effortlessly by your budget, preferred style, or color scheme.

4. Seamless YouCam AI Virtual Try-On & Background Removal

No more guessing how an outfit will look. Powered by YouCam / Perfect Corp, you simply upload a standing photo and an outfit reference image, shoot it over to the server-side API (POST /api/youcam-tryon), and watch the AI bring the try-on preview to life.

Once your squad is fully geared up, I integrated YouCam Background Removal to instantly clean up and isolate each character. This ensures everyone looks sharp before you finalize your look, reveal the Festive Squad, and generate a personalized greeting card ready to share with your loved ones!

🛠️ How I Built It I started building Festive Ready AI in Lovable, where I sketched out the initial interface and the core concept of an RPG-inspired festive dressing room.

From there, I moved the project through GitHub into Visual Studio Code to take full control of the implementation and build out the experience in detail.

Working inside VS Code, I partnered closely with ChatGPT as my AI coding companion to iterate on the React and TypeScript codebase, debug issues, hook up the app flow, and bring features to life like:

⚙️ Tech Stack & Architecture The application is built using React and TypeScript, utilizing shared state management to seamlessly track family profiles, individual preferences, equipment, Virtual Try-On results, and finalized looks.

To deliver high-end AI capabilities, I integrated two major YouCam / Perfect Corp features via secure server-side API routes:

Apparel Virtual Try-On (POST /api/youcam-tryon)

Background Removal

By routing these calls through the backend, private API credentials stay safely server-side and are never exposed on the frontend. Additionally, browser storage is used smartly behind the scenes to cache generated assets and avoid redundant API requests.
