Inspiration

its easy to forget how prevalent satellites are in our daily lives. This tools aims to build a intuitive understanding of what satellites do and how they impact us.

What it does

Simulates earth and the satellites orbiting it through real-time data

How we built it

We designed and built it using three.js and open source satellite positioning APIs

Challenges we ran into

Doing development in three.js was a challenge. we specifically ran into issue with asset loading

Accomplishments that we're proud of

developing a true to reality simulation of star-link satellite orbits. calculating using satellite positioning data to calculate coverage zones for current location

What we learned

Separation of responsibilities, Time management, 3d development

What's next for FES (Fancy Earth Simulator)

satellite models. more accurate estimates to location. inclusion of satellites besides starlink and explanation of their usage
