SheShines: In dark mode
Inspiration
SheShines started as a small idea to create a personal self care space for women and gently remind them to think about themselves each day. It is not about big fancy challenges or long routines that are hard to follow. The goal was simple, to offer a kind space with a daily motivational quote or affirmation. Something small yet powerful to keep going.
It is a space where a woman can pause, reflect, and do something that brings her joy even if just for a moment. Because happiness does not have to be complicated and taking care of ourselves should feel natural, not like a task.
What it does
SheShines gives women a quiet place to check in with themselves every day. It offers a daily motivational message or affirmation to lift their spirits. There is a mood tracker to help notice how they feel and a journal to write down thoughts or feelings. The site also lets users save their moods, self-care task, and journal entries, and generate a PDF so they can look back and see their journey. It keeps things simple so caring for yourself does not feel like extra work.
How it is built
SheShines was built using basic web technologies, The HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I focused on keeping the design clean and easy to use. The site works completely in the browser, with no complicated backend, so anyone can access their self care space quickly and easily.
To save data like moods and journal entries, I used the browser’s local storage. This way, users can keep their info safe on their own device without needing to sign up or connect to the internet.
I also added a button to generate a PDF of saved entries so users can keep a personal record outside the site. Dark mode was included to make the site comfortable to use anytime.
Challenges
The PDF generation was a bit tricky for me. I wanted to make sure users could save their entries in a clean and easy-to-read format.
Accomplishments to be proud of
I’m really happy that SheShines turned out simple and easy to use. It feels good to create a space where women can take a little time for themselves every day without any hassle.
Getting mood tracking, journaling, and PDF export all working together was a nice achievement. And adding dark mode just makes it more comfortable to use whenever you want.
What I learned
I learned a lot about JavaScript and CSS while building SheShines. It was a great way to practice making websites that look nice and work well. This project helped me understand how to create interactive features and style them so users have a good experience.
What's next for SheShines: For every mood, moment, and miracle in you.
The main goal is to grow SheShines into an all-in-one space for women’s health and wellness. I want to add more features that help women manage different parts of their lives easily, a go-to site where they can take care of their mind, body, and spirit all in one place.
