Q. What inspired me..? A. The biggest inspiration was my own knowledge-hungry brain. As a medical student, I’m constantly curious about how technology can solve real-world healthcare problems. That curiosity, combined with my passion for problem-solving, pushed me to build FemWise , a tool that could make women’s health tracking simpler, smarter, and more reliable.

Q. What it does? A. Tracking menstrual health is still a challenge for many women. Periods can be irregular, symptoms often go unnoticed, and it’s not always easy to know when it’s time to see a doctor. Existing apps often act only as calendars, leaving out deeper insights into health.

FemWise makes this easier by combining simple tracking with AI-powered insights. Users can log their cycles, moods, and symptoms, and the app predicts the next period and fertile window. More importantly, it highlights patterns, like irregular cycles or unusual changes that may need medical attention.

This means women don’t just get a date on a calendar, they get a clearer picture of their body and gentle guidance on when to take action. It’s about making period tracking smarter, safer, and more supportive.

Q. Challenges I ran into...? One of the biggest hurdles I faced was connecting the app with** Firestore** and handling the logic around data access. As a medical student, coding isn’t my primary background, so figuring out Firebase rules and permissions turned into a nightmare at times.

The onboarding flow, for example, would often get stuck because Firestore wouldn’t give access, or worse, it wouldn’t even show what was wrong. Debugging felt like shooting in the dark.

Eventually, after revisiting the setup and carefully reviewing the logic, I realized the problem wasn’t in my core idea but mostly in the way Firestore rules and configs were structured. Once I simplified and rechecked everything step by step, the logic became clear and things finally started working.

It taught me patience and the importance of breaking problems down, even if they look intimidating at first.

Q. Accomplishments that I'm proud of ! A. - Successfully built a working Flutter Android app (not just mockups).

  • Integrated Firestore database to securely store and sync user data.
  • Managed to implement AI-driven insights despite coming from a medical, not coding, background.
  • Designed a clean, simple UI that makes health tracking less intimidating.
  • Turned a problem I observed in healthcare into a real, usable prototype.

Q. What's next for FemWise ? A. - Add smarter AI predictions for irregular cycles, PCOS, and lifestyle-influenced variations.

  • Integrate doctor consultation reminders and link to telehealth services.
  • Build a multi-language interface for accessibility in non-English speaking regions.
  • Improve security & privacy with more robust auth and encryption.
  • Expand beyond period tracking → a full women’s health companion app (nutrition, mood, exercise).
