Female Physician Finder

Inspiration

Female Physician Finder is inspired by the struggles of countless women when receiving medical care. The pain of women, especially women of color, is often diminished by healthcare providers, and Female Physician Finders aims to connect women with physicians that empathize with and listen to their patients.

What it does

Female Physician Finder is a user-submitted database of physicians that can be filtered by location, gender, age, race, and ethnicity. This allows women to connect with providers that meet their needs in their area. Women can upload profiles for their providers and leave comments on their experience. Additionally, although Female Physician Finder's target demographic is women and gender minorities, men can also make profiles and interact with the database.

How we built it

This website is built with html using Python for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Interfacing a searchable database with intuitive UI was a challenge, but using Python resources we were able to connect the frontend and backend programming.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

3/4 of our team members were complete beginners to web design, so we are very proud to have learned to create user-friendly html websites in such a short time!

What we learned

We learned valuable time-management and task delegation skills from splitting up such a large project into smaller tasks executed by individual team members. Additionally, we learned so much about front end development!

What's next for Female Physician Finder

Female Physician Finder's next steps are making a more appealing UI, adding a map to display provider locations, and improving filtering capabilities.
