Inspiration
Our inspiration behind this app was a mixture of Tinder, reddit and making people feel good with cute and funny images.
What it does
Our app functions as an image streaming website that shows you images pulled from APIs that you can swipe left or right on to either see more or less of, depending on your preference.
How we built it
The front-end was made using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, and is hosted on GitHub Pages. We utilized Some Random Api and Meme Api to generate random images with a fact or joke associated with them.
Challenges we ran into
Some of us do not know HTML, CSS, or JavaScript or how to use Microsoft Live Share, but over time everybody became familiar with both. We also faced challenges implementing the swipe functionality of the app. But after spending a lot of time on these challenges we were able to overcome them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our beautiful and responsive front-end and utilizing APIs for the first time.
What we learned
We learned many valuable skills that will carry on through our careers. From using Microsoft Live Share to share code between each other to how APIs work A better understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS as a whole. More importantly, being organized, and having clear communication is something we can not learn on our own.
What's next for Feline Good
We can improve the API usage by giving better content suggestions to the user. We plan to add account functionality so you can save your content preferences as well as a statistic tab so that you can see what your preferences are. We are planning on adding a new star button that can save posts for later as well. Less important, but still on the list is improve the design of Feline Good by making it look more casual and more appealing.
