Clicky — Big Adventures. Smarter Kids. Safer Online.

💡 About the Project

Inspiration

As children spend more time online, they face growing risks such as cyberbullying, online scams, misinformation, privacy violations, and AI-related threats. Traditional safety education can be difficult to engage with, so we asked: What if children could learn online safety by playing games and exploring adventures?

This inspired us to build Clicky, an interactive, AI-assisted digital safety learning platform that makes online safety education fun, engaging, and accessible.

🎮 What We Built

Clicky transforms digital safety lessons into interactive adventures where children learn to recognize online risks and make safer decisions through hands-on activities and fictional scenarios.

Key Features

  • Interactive Safety Games: Explore challenges covering scam detection, cyberbullying, misinformation, privacy protection, AI safety, voice impersonation, empathy, and gaming safety.
  • KindBot AI Companion: A child-friendly companion designed to provide supportive guidance and practical safety advice.
  • Friends Circle: Encourage positive learning through friend connections, achievements, encouragement, and challenges.
  • Gamified Learning: Earn XP, unlock badges, explore themed worlds, and track learning progress.
  • Parent Dashboard: Help parents understand their children's learning progress and identify topics that need further practice.
  • Family Learning: Encourage conversations between parents and children about responsible online behavior.
  • Child-Friendly UI: A colorful, responsive interface designed to make learning intuitive and enjoyable.

🛠️ How We Built It

We developed Clicky using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, with reusable components and responsive layouts. The platform combines interactive game mechanics, progress tracking, achievements, a child-facing experience, and a separate parent dashboard.

The MVP includes demo accounts and sample data so reviewers can explore its main features. KindBot supports a demo response experience, with scope for future integration of a live AI model.

🧠 What We Learned

We learned that online safety education should go beyond identifying risks. Children need opportunities to practice decision-making, understand consequences, and learn when to seek help from a trusted adult. We also explored how gamification, AI-assisted guidance, and parent involvement can contribute to a more engaging learning experience.

🚧 Challenges We Faced

Our main challenges included moving beyond ordinary multiple-choice quizzes, designing different gameplay experiences for different safety topics, maintaining a consistent child-friendly interface, and considering privacy and safety in AI guidance and friend connections.

We addressed these challenges by building reusable game components, improving navigation and interactions, and designing separate experiences for children and parents.

🚀 What's Next?

We aim to expand interactive gameplay, improve AI safety capabilities, introduce more family learning activities, and explore a dedicated mobile application for Android and iOS.

Our mission is simple: empower children to explore the digital world with confidence, kindness, and safety.
