Inspiration
Feely was inspired by my own experience with emotional dysregulation. I wanted to build something to help others like me feel seen and supported.
What it does
Feely lets users quickly log how they feel using a playful bubble UI, then tracks emotional trends over time. It’s simple, private, and designed for everyday use.
How we built it
We used Expo (React Native / TypeScript) for the app and Supabase for authentication and data storage, with RLS to keep user data secure. The stack was chosen for speed and flexibility during the hackathon. Mood checkins are posted to an algorand chain through nodely.
Challenges we ran into
Blockchain is not my strong suit, so figuring out the nomenclature and jargon just to ask the right questions to various AI tools and Google proved to be a challenge.
Also, having Bolt create a visually pleasing chart to pick emotions from was VERY difficult. We opted to use emoji tiles for speed of development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We shipped a real, usable app in a short time—and it actually helps people. The UI and privacy-first backend are both solid wins.
What we learned
Designing for emotion is harder (and more rewarding) than it looks. Supabase is powerful, but planning schemas and rules early is critical. I'm also not a fan of blockchain.
What's next for Feely
We're not sure yet
