Inspiration

I wanted something fun to open between Jira tickets. So I built a pixel-art game around the work already happening there.

What it does

Jira activity earns XP for your troll and helps build a shared Team Village. There are quests, sprint raids, and privacy settings for what teammates can see.

What's new for Codegeist

I'm working on a custom Village Guardian and planning Siege Forecast, a small tactical map for exploring dependencies.

The idea: WEB-14 is blocked by API-7. Try "What if API-7 is done?" and see which dependencies would remain. A fresh Jira check confirms the actual result after someone completes the work.

These additions are still in development.

How I built it

Atlassian Forge, React, TypeScript, and Forge SQL. Everything runs on Atlassian infrastructure. The app reads Jira issues without changing them.

Challenges

Keeping the game fun without rewarding ticket spam. Cross-project dependencies also need permission checks on both issues, including issue security.

What I learned

Jira event delays affect the gameplay. Simulations need clear labels, and real progress needs a fresh permission-checked read.
