Inspiration
We wanted to create a website that allows students to explore the culinary options at the uofc food court. Many students at uofc have dietary restrictions, this makes it hard for them to find new food options. With our database, all students will be able to find new food options to feed their hungry tummies!
What it does
How I built it
We created a react js front end website that searches a mySQL database to find foods served at uofc that meet the dietary restrictions, pallettes, and budgets of uofc students and faculty. There was also much through that went into the icons and logos on the website!
Challenges I ran into
There were many challenges. In the end, we weren't able to fully integrate the mySQL database with the front end website in the way we would have liked.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We had a lot of fun creating this website and we worked together and supported each other!
What I learned
Most of the team had never coded any react js! It was a huge learning experience in collaboration and learning on the fly.
What's next for Feed Me UCalgary
We forged some strong friendships during this hackathon that are sure to last :D
