Inspiration

Product teams ship features constantly, but most people in the company never fully understand what changed. Feature documentation is long, fragmented, and rarely read outside the core team. We wanted a simpler way to explain shipped work to everyone.

What it does

FeatureFlicks turns long feature documentation into short explainer videos. Instead of reading (sometimes 10–30 pages of) specs, anyone can watch a few 30–60 second videos and quickly understand what a feature does and why it matters.

How we built it

We built FeatureFlicks using solutions provided by the event sponsors, which helped us rapidly prototype and validate the idea. The focus throughout development was on speed, simplicity, and delivering a clear end-to-end experience.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was staying focused and avoiding feature creep. We also had to balance brevity with accuracy when summarizing complex features into very short explanations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We defined a clear new use case between documentation and video tools. We also created a format that makes product updates understandable in minutes without onboarding or training.

What we learned

We learned that internal products and tools can sometimes be more valuable than external ones. In large enterprises, improving how new features and key internal systems are explained can save millions of employee hours by accelerating adoption and reducing confusion across teams.

What's next for FeatureFlicks

Next, we plan to improve automation and narrative quality in generated videos. Over time, FeatureFlicks can evolve from an internal communication tool into a way to present new features to customers through short, clear videos for launches and product updates.
