This was one of my first assignments at Devpost. I came from a C# background before joining Devpost so this was a great learning experience for me.

What it does

The new version of the featured hackathon section on the Devpost page organizes in person and online hackathons into two different columns. It also sorts by the most recent one coming up first so that you know what's coming up soonest.

How I built it

This was built using a pretty traditional rails MVC stack. The data was retrieved using active record and then used to populate a new partial view that was created for each of the columns. Sass was used with Zurb to allow the columns to be responsive. The automated unit tests were created using RSpec and Capybara was used for acceptance testing as well.

Challenges I ran into

I had to learn a new language and a new system. No biggy. Special thanks to exchgr for pairing up with me.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm starting to learn a new language and a new system. :-)
