Fearless Footsteps

Inspiration

Our team was inspired by the need for safer walking routes in urban areas, especially in cities like Austin where crime rates can be a concern for residents and visitors alike. We wanted to create a tool that empowers people to make informed decisions about their safety, giving them peace of mind when exploring new neighborhoods.

What it does

Fearless Footsteps helps users find the safest walking paths in Austin by analyzing crime data from the Austin Police Department. By integrating this data with Google Maps, the app calculates and suggests the safest routes, avoiding high-crime areas and providing peace of mind for users concerned about their safety.

How we built it

We built Fearless Footsteps using the Google Maps API for mapping and route calculation, and the Austin Police Department's crime report database for real-time crime data. The backend was developed using JavaScript, and we integrated everything into a web application that is both user-friendly and efficient.
