Arctic Guardian

Inspiration

Extreme environments already use advanced systems to predict weather and protect equipment, but human health risks like frostbite and hypothermia are often ignored or detected too late. We were inspired to close this gap by adding AI-based medical intelligence to Arctic Guardian so that humans receive the same level of protection as machines during extreme operations.

What it does

Arctic Guardian is an AI-powered survival intelligence system that:

• Predicts frostbite and cold-injury risk using real-time weather data
• Performs rapid AI-based medical triage during emergencies
• Enhances SOS alerts with medical severity, urgency, and rescue timing
• Helps teams decide when to monitor, warn, or evacuate

How we built it

We integrated Arctic Guardian’s environmental risk analysis with an AI medical triage engine built using Google Gemini. The system collects weather data and minimal human inputs, correlates them using AI, and produces clear, actionable decisions. The platform is deployed on Google Cloud Run for scalability and reliability.

Challenges we ran into

• Translating frostbite and cold-injury stages into AI logic
• Correlating fast-changing weather with human physiological risk
• Designing outputs usable under stress and low connectivity
• Keeping the system simple, fast, and decision-focused
