What it does

Our service makes the Zalando commitment to social and environmental responsibility visible to Zalando customers.

Our service shows the environment and social statistics of every product in the Zalando product catalogue. How big carbon footprint the supply chain and logistics has, how environment friendly the factory is, are the workers provided safe working environment etc. The system also recommends other more environment friendly products as a way to upsell.

How we built it

We created a Chrome plugin which examines Zalando website and overlays the FazEthics layer on top of the site. We also analysed the customer reviews on the brands using the Zalando API and IBM Watson Tone Analyzer Service to provide an overview of the user satisfaction of the brand.

Challenges we ran into

There was no information available where the products are made on Zalando website.

Working demo that ROCKS and shows the value of the concept.

What we learned

We learned the value of ethics in fashionretail and how technology can facilitate the bridge between manufacturers and consumers.
