Fawn: AI-Powered Daycare Operations Assistant March 29, 2026

Fawn is an AI-powered daycare operations assistant built to support one of the most durable and essential services in everyday life: childcare. Daycare is not disappearing anytime soon, because families will always need safe, reliable places for children to learn, grow, and be cared for while parents work and manage daily life. That constant demand inspired us to build a product that reduces operational stress for daycare providers while increasing trust and visibility for families. Fawn answers calls, captures new leads, logs intake details, generates digital intake summaries, books tours on Google Calendar, stores persistent records in MongoDB, and syncs live activity across the admin dashboard and client-facing views. At the same time, it gives parents a sense of comfort through immediate updates, transparent communication, and a system designed around reassurance rather than uncertainty: with a click of a button, staff can send family updates, review recent actions, and surface important intake details in real time.

We built Fawn as a full-stack system using Next.js for the frontend, an Express backend for the API, Twilio for voice workflows, MongoDB for persistent memory, Pusher for live synchronization, Google Calendar and Google Sheets for operational integrations, and Gemini for AI-generated intake insights. Along the way, we learned a great deal about real-time systems, cross-device communication, API orchestration, and how fragile operational tooling becomes when multiple services need to stay in sync. One of the biggest challenges was making the product feel calm and clean while handling live events such as transcripts, lead generation, intake summaries, history retrieval, and backend integrations all at once. We also had to design around real-world expectations from families—such as timely responses, clear communication, and consistent updates—while ensuring the system remained reliable for both administrators and parents.

The result is a platform that brings structure and clarity to a space where trust matters most. By reducing friction in communication and simplifying day-to-day operations, Fawn enables daycare providers to focus on what they do best: caring for children. At the same time, it gives families confidence that they are informed, supported, and connected. This alignment between operational efficiency and parental trust positions Fawn not just as a tool but as a scalable foundation for modern childcare services.
