❓ What is FaunaLoka?
FaunaLoka is an innovative mobile app dedicated to preserving Indonesia’s unique wildlife. Using advanced machine learning, FaunaLoka allows users to identify animals, report sightings, and share location data to aid in conservation efforts. With a focus on protecting endemic species, FaunaLoka brings nature lovers and conservationists together to help safeguard Indonesia's biodiversity, one sighting at a time.
😱 The Inspiration Behind FaunaLoka
FaunaLoka was inspired by the urgent need to address the effects of the climate crisis on wildlife. Changes in climate patterns have disrupted animal behaviors and habitats, leading to shifts such as bird migrations and the movement of rhino ecosystems. These shifts make it increasingly difficult for national parks to monitor and protect endangered species, as their habitats become less predictable. To address this challenge, we envisioned FaunaLoka as a user-oriented solution. With FaunaLoka, visitors to national parks can easily report the location of animals they encounter, supporting conservation efforts with real-time data. No specific knowledge is needed, as the app includes helpful features that guide users in making valuable wildlife reports.
