Inspiration
The inspiration for this project came about while looking about health apps. When I looked at most dieting apps about intermittent fasting, they were complex with a need for subscription and features that were just fluff. This inspired us to make a project that was a intermittent fasting app.
What it does
This app has a couple of different functions. The first is a timer which can be used to track when a person should fast. If the person wants to stop fasting or eats in the middle of the fast, there is a stop button and a button labeled ‘I just ate’ in order to record a failure. The other function that this app has is a calendar that shows successful fasts and unsuccessful fasts. The successful days will be marked green while the unsuccessful will be colored red.
How we built it
To build our project we used a combination of git, GitHub to work together in the team and also Android studios in order to build and test the app. We used an android emulator in order to test it.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenge that we all faced was that none of us have built apps on android before this project. We didn’t know what software to use and some of us didn’t even know the proper languages before this project. This made things difficult but even so, we came out with a good product.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Just starting to make a phone app and working with Java was a good challenge for all of us
What we learned
We learned how to code, design, and finalize an android app and how the structures used to make mobile apps. We also learned how to interact with different elements such as buttons, flips, text fields, and many other elements.
What's next for Fast trak
We never fully finished this product so what would be next is to finalize it. After that, probably streamline the UI design and make the app look more polished.
