Inspiration
Many of us struggle with managing our time, and our ramping assignments as we traverse high school. Therefore we wanted to create a web application that solves that issue, in a quick and appealing interface.
What it does
Our application is an easy way to manage your time by creating a task in your dashboard, which includes your task name, due date, and any further details in description. After this, you can start the task which directs you to a Pomodoro timer along with motivational quotes to keep you going. If you finish, you can go back to the home page, thereby completing said task.
How we built it
We used React.js, CSS, and Material UI for enhancing the application. Firebase was used to serve as a database to collect the emails, passwords, as well as the tasks.
Challenges we ran into
Firebase often did not cooperate with us, and created many problems for us, which definitely deviated our work process. Styling, as in every app, was tedious, and took some hard thinking as to how we could create the best UI that we could make.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made an MVP(Minimum Viable Product), and we persevered through all the Firebase-related problems, and other dependencies that wouldn't work, culminating in our projects. Making a web application in less than 2 days is no easy feat, as well.
What we learned
We definitely want to create wireframes before coding our next project. Planning our CSS out to make styling even more appealable is definitely on our bucket list.
What's next for Fast Tasks
We hope to add a Twilio implementation, by using the user’s phone number to text them, whenever a task’s due date is upcoming. Also, we'd like to enhance our UI, making it more responsive and appealing. Implementing more features such as adding a calendar with all of your tasks and study resources.
