Inspiration
During this semester I am taking CSE 426 which is about blockchain and it made me realize that one can easily put data on the blockchain using smart contracts.
What it does
It provides the ability for anyone to Make any file format or datatype ranging from Image to public keys to be secure on Blockchain without any knowledge about writing code in Solidity. It enables people to create a working Open Ledger-based Solidity Contract without writing any code.
It asks for the Contract name and the type of files that would be stored in the open ledger. There are templates through which one can expand. The examples include DOI ledger (DataObject Identifier), Image Ledger and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number Ledger).
The program will automatically create the solidity datatypes as uint for hash inputs and also functions to write data and view data.
After providing the data, it will provide a downloadable Contract file written in Solidity.
This creates immense opportunity for people to create their own Smart Contract to secure any kind and combination of Data on the blockchain.
How we built it
I used node.js and express app to create endpoints and vue.js for the front-end. For authentication, I am using firebase and firebase Vue library. The express app takes the user input about data types and writes solidity code for it. I used link to find icons and used bootstrap to style the UI. I have used AXIOS to do the API request from the UI and Remix to test the generated Solidity files. Also, the flyer and concept were designed in AdobeXD.
Challenges we ran into
I had a hard time generating the solidity code and also transferring it through the post API. Also, it was a pain to bring different parts of it together and get them working.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud to create a full stack app with authentication and Blockhain all by myself and also design the flyer using adobe XD.
What we learned
I am proud to learn a lot of things in such a short span. For example, I learned about how I can use Blob to create downloadable files. Also, it was great to understand how the POST API in response needs a different header such as Content-disposition to send the file as a response.
What's next for Fast Block
I will develop the ability to deploy on the main net.
