Inspiration
We wanted to create an app that gives users a playful way to be roasted for their outfits with friends. Fashionista gives users the opportunity to combine humor with self-expression, turning their everyday fashion choices into connection and laughter.
What it does
Fashionista transforms photos into a fun game for friends! Users upload a photo of their outfit, and our app analyzes the image to generate a playful, humorous roast from one of our unique characters. Each roast is tailored to the outfit’s style, colors, and overall vibe, making every interaction personalized and engaging. It’s the perfect way to have a good laugh about your fashion choices!
How we built it
Fashionista was built using Python and Streamlit as well as incorporating Gemini to power the characters behind the roasts.
Challenges we ran into
-Balancing humor with sensitivity: One of our main challenges was ensuring the app’s roasts were funny without crossing the line into offensiveness. Humor is subjective, and we needed to strike the right balance to make the jokes lighthearted and not too harsh. This involved carefully designing the character personalities and filtering roast content to keep the app fun.
-Collaborating Across the World: Working as a global team with members in India and the United States presented logistical challenges, especially with coordinating meetings and fixing critical issues. With significant time zone differences, we had to plan ahead and leave asynchronous messages to keep the project on track. Despite this obstacle, we were able to work together to create a fun project!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re particularly proud of the different AI character personalities that interact with user’s photos in creative and memorable ways. It helps add an extra layer of charm to our app.
What we learned
We learned how to effectively use Streamlit to create an interactive and visually appealing UI for our app. This tool allowed us to quickly prototype, making it easier for us to bring our ideas to life within the short time window. We also learned how to use PearAI to quickly fix bugs in our code which was a lifesaver!
What's next for Fashionista
-Enhancing the user interface
-Expanding and adding more character personalities
-Adding social sharing features so friends can connect from far away
