Inspiration
Throughout the pandemic, we saw many e-commerce boutiques open up, with insanely low prices. It became worrying seeing large haul videos and thinking about the environmental implications of our consumer habits. On the contrary, landfills are piled with clothing and textiles, worsening the state of our environment. There must be an alternative to dumping our clothes.
What it does
Our app will connect individuals who no longer want their clothing with fashion chains in an attempt to upcycle the clothing and reuse the fabric. This way, clothing can be revamped and resold. Further, consumers will be able to scan their clothing to see the origins of manufacturing and its environmental implications. This way, they can understand the cost of their rapid purchases.
What we learned
We learned how to make pitch videos short and engaging! We kept the detailed information for our research paper!
What's next for Fashion4Future
Fashion4Future hopes to expand and allow individual consumers to donate to one another directly! This eliminates the need for chain-stores to upcycle the clothing and introduces a communal, sharing aspect for our platform. We also hope to facilitate donations to more organizations, such as children’s crafting schools or charities that fund blankets in developing countries! Our goal to be able to donate as much fabric as possible!
