Inspiration

We were inspired by our experiences in middle school and how we wished there was a website out there that gave good fashion advice and helped us feel good about ourselves.

What it does

The website does the following…. -Provides fashion tips -Provides a positive environment -Motivates teens with their confidence in fashion -Provides personalized outfits and styles based on individuals and choice -Provides suggestions on where to shop -Includes a message for parents

How I built it

This project was built by Himani Konda, Vanessa Lopez, and I as a part of Kode With Klossy 2022 (I got their permission before posting this). First, we created a basic wireframe that gave us an idea to get started with. We also made a color palette to generate ideas on the overall way we wanted the website to look like. Next, we planned out the pages we would have on the website and what format it would follow, like if we wanted the text to be centered or not and what font we would use.

Our development process was built on trust and reliability. At the beginning of the project, we all decided that we’d split our website into roughly three sections, one for each of us to work on. We mainly focused on using HTML, and used CSS to enhance our website.

Challenges I ran into

We learned that creating a website is quite the challenge, and that it was harder to even try making it look professional and aesthetically pleasing.

We fortunately did not have too many challenges when we were working on our project. However, one feature that was difficult for us was the navigation bar. It took a long time to perfect the feature, and we had to look back at our previous lessons and notes to figure out how to properly make the navigation bar work.

Another challenge we had was with JavaScript. We were all very uncomfortable with DOM, so it took a lot of talking it over and help from the instructors, but it felt really good when the code finally worked!

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We're really proud of the navigation bar, the form you can fill out to sign up for email updates, and the supportive content of the website.

What I learned

We learned about the importance of the aesthetic/look of a project. If a product looks ugly/has a bad interface, people naturally are going to look for an alternative. As such, we focused on make the website good to look at as well as easy for people to use!

What's next for Fashion With A Passion

There is so much more we’d like to add to the project if we had more time. Some of the features we really wanted the add was a “Discover” and “Trending” pages. On the Discover page, we’d allow user to upload pictures of their outfits. They could then tag these outfits with categories such as “fancy”, “comfy”, “under $30”, etc.

The “Trending” page would contain photos of outfits with the most likes. Unfortunately, we lacked the time and the technical ability to implement these features.

Users would also be able to like outfits and use a search function where users could narrow their search by using these categories as filters.
