Inspiration

Fashion Forward was inspired by Vogue and Elle Magazines, as well as staying on trend! Helping users find what trendy clothes was the main goal when creating Fashion Forward. We wanted a space for beginner fashion enthusiasts, and fashion experts alike to discover new trends before they rise, and stay ahead of the fashion game.

What it does

Fashion Forward has 3 main features, its AI Stylist, the next Season Fashion Forecast, and the Upcycling and Sustainability tracker. The AI stylist allows users to input photos of clothing, and determine the general aesthetics that the user could wear to match the styles of the photos. The Season Fashion Forecast is a trend predictor for the upcoming season, keeping users ahead of trends for the upcoming season. The Upcycling and Sustainability tracker is where users can find resources to epicycle current clothing they own, rather than always buy new clothes.

How we built it

We began with a drawn framework using Notability. Then, using the Gemini AI Studio, we inputted our framework and concept and used the barebones version to begin our site. Then with the integration of the ElevenLabs API, the Google Shopping API to recommend products to users, and metrics to score user's sustainability, we built the website in multiple pages.

Challenges we ran into

The large challenge that we ran into was while developing was the use of free API keys. The keys having limited tokens limited the amount of larger APIs we could call to help users find more detailed information, as well as limited the amount of pictures we could generate. We got around this issue by removing certain image generation, as well as generating new keys to continue our testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One large accomplishment that we are proud of is the multilingual implementation of ElevenLabs. With 10 different languages from around the world, our AI stylist can communicate with users vocally, even if they don't speak English, promoting a global audience.

What we learned

We learned a ton about prompt engineering, and just how important it is to make sure you are specific with how you prompt an AI. We learned that while an AI takes in natural language, there are a lot of specific word choices that need to be made to ensure a precise output.

What's next for Fashion Forward

The next steps for Fashion Forward are to integrate the ability to upload Pinterest boards instead of image files for the AI stylist, create Depop listings directly from the site, and create a system for user authentication by using some DBMS.
