About the Project
Inspiration
I wanted to create a match-3 puzzle game that feels different from traditional titles. Instead of using a serious theme, I focused on humor, expressive characters, and funny animations to make every level entertaining. My goal was to combine polished puzzle mechanics with a lighthearted experience that players of all ages could enjoy.
What it does
Fart Match is a mobile match-3 puzzle game where players swap colorful tiles to complete objectives, unlock powerful boosters, and progress through increasingly challenging levels.
The game includes:
- Multiple obstacle types
- Unique boosters with different abilities
- Reward systems
- Daily rewards
- Unlockable features
- Smooth animations and visual effects
- Funny character interactions and humorous gameplay
The objective is to provide an accessible puzzle experience with a unique comedic identity.
How I built it
Fart Match was built using Unity and C#.
During development I used ChatGPT, GPT-5.6, and Codex extensively to speed up production. AI helped me with:
- Gameplay programming
- UI implementation
- Game architecture
- Level management
- Animation workflows
- Bug fixing
- Code refactoring
- Performance improvements
- Game balancing ideas
- UI/UX improvements
Using Codex dramatically accelerated development by allowing me to iterate on gameplay systems much faster than a traditional workflow.
Challenges I ran into
One of the biggest challenges was balancing humor with satisfying puzzle gameplay. It was important that the game remained fun rather than becoming repetitive.
Other challenges included:
- Designing engaging booster mechanics
- Creating a scalable level system
- Optimizing mobile performance
- Building responsive UI for different screen sizes
- Iterating on animations and visual effects while maintaining performance
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that I transformed an unusual and funny concept into a polished playable mobile game.
Some highlights include:
- A fully playable match-3 experience
- Original humorous art direction
- Smooth gameplay and polished UI
- AI-assisted development workflow with Codex and GPT-5.6
- Fast iteration from idea to working prototype
What I learned
This project showed me how powerful AI-assisted game development can be.
Instead of spending hours searching documentation or debugging manually, I could rapidly prototype features, solve technical problems, and improve the overall quality of the game using GPT-5.6 and Codex.
It allowed me to focus more on game design and player experience.
What's next for Fart Match
The next steps for Fart Match include:
- Hundreds of additional handcrafted levels
- AI-assisted procedural level generation
- Daily challenges
- Leaderboards
- More boosters and obstacles
- Seasonal events
- Character customization
- Cloud save support
- Multiplayer competitions
- LiveOps content updates
- iOS release
- Global launch with continuous content updates
My vision is to evolve Fart Match into a long-term live mobile puzzle game that continues growing through AI-assisted development.
