Inspiration

Agriculture being the backbone of Nepal's economy, farmers still use traditional methods to keep track of their records and inefficient task management leads to financial instability.

What it does

It aims to provide farmers with a centralized platform to manage their agricultural activities efficiently keeping their finances in check.

How we built it

At first, we planned to build a supply chain management system for farmers to connect with suppliers and buyers efficiently. The goal was to optimize the agricultural supply chain, reduce middlemen, and ensure fair pricing for farmers.

However, we realized that similar solutions already exist, and we wanted to build something unique that directly benefits farmers while being practical and easy to use.

Challenges we ran into

Since we built the project using only the frontend, one of our biggest challenges was managing state efficiently as the app grew more complex. Handling multiple data sources, and inventory tracking, while ensuring a seamless user experience was tricky. We also struggled with optimizing UI/UX, ensuring responsiveness, and intuitive navigation. Despite these hurdles, we refined our approach, optimized performance, and built a functional, user-friendly app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how we successfully built a fully functional farmer dashboard using only the frontend while overcoming challenges in state management and UI/UX optimization. Despite the complexity, we created a seamless, interactive user experience with good design. Managing multiple data sources without a backend was tough, but we efficiently handled it using React state management.

What we learned

We learned the importance of efficient state management in React, ensuring smooth UI interactions and data handling without a backend. We also improved our UI/UX design skills. We gained valuable experience in team collaboration, effectively dividing tasks based on our strengths and coordinating work to meet deadlines.

What's next for FarmWise - Farm Wisely

We’ve built a solid foundation, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement! Moving forward, we plan to integrate a backend to store farm data, automate recommendations, and provide real-time updates. Adding AI-driven crop and fertilizer suggestions based on weather and soil conditions would make the platform even smarter. We also aim to introduce user authentication so farmers can save their progress and access personalized insights. Expanding features like community forums/blogs for farmer discussions making it a comprehensive digital assistant for farmers, helping them farm smarter and more efficiently!
