India's agricultural supply chain is plagued by opacity — farmers receive as little as 15-20% of what consumers pay, yet there is no system for anyone to verify where their food comes from or how prices escalate at each step. We witnessed firsthand how middlemen exploit the information gap, and how rural farmers in Rajasthan struggle with English-only digital platforms. The idea for FarmTrace was born from a simple question: what if a consumer could scan a QR code on their tomatoes and see the exact farmer who grew them, the price that farmer was paid, and every hand the produce passed through — all secured by blockchain so no one can tamper with the records? FarmTrace is a full-stack agricultural supply chain transparency platform that tracks produce from farm to fork across 7 distinct roles — Farmer, Village Trader, APMC Agent, Wholesaler, Transporter, Retailer, and Regulator. Farmers create crop batches with a base price, then transfer ownership through the supply chain using OTP-secured handoffs. APMC agents record auction prices, retailers set final prices, and transporters log pickup/dropoff timestamps — all recorded on an immutable blockchain. Consumers can scan a QR code or enter a batch code (no login needed) to see the complete journey, all three price points, the farmer's actual earnings, and blockchain-verified proof that the data hasn't been tampered with. The entire platform is bilingual (Hindi/English) with voice input and an AI-powered chatbot to help low-literacy users.
