Inspiration
As I live in Uzbekistan, I have noticed some problems farmers are facing nowadays. First of all, they struggle with water scarcity and waste from poor irrigation timing, and an exploitation by middlemen due to lack of price information. Next, inaccurate planning for harvests and income can lead to debts. Moreover, they often detect crop diseases late, which hinders them from achieving their goals. Then, they don't have buyers when their produce is ready.
Because of the problems listed above, I came up with an idea of creating a platform to solve them.
What it does
The platform provides a marketplace for farmers as well as buyers. It helps farmers sell their products on time without any waste and buyers buy at good prices. Next, the platform has an AI-based disease detection platform, which allows users to find out about crop diseases early and get recommended treatments. Moreover, farmers can use irrigation planners tailored to specific crop stages and get irrigation schedules. Farmers can see local prices of products by using the section called Market Trends. There is a Harvest Estimator section, which helps farmers to estimate profits tailored to specific crop types.
How we built it
- Frontend: Next.js 14, React, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, Lucide icons.
- Backend: Go (Golang), Gin Web Framework, pgx (PostgreSQL driver).
- Database: PostgreSQL with complex analytical queries.
- AI: Gemini 1.5/2.5 Flash API
What's next for FarmMind Lite
Future plans include a Digital Farm Logbook for seasonal record-keeping and a Community Knowledge Hub for low-bandwidth peer-to-peer advice and resource sharing.
