Core Features

AI Crop Doctor — Farmers snap a photo of a diseased crop. Gemini's vision model analyzes the image and diagnoses diseases (Cassava Mosaic, Maize Streak, Tomato Blight, Yam Rot, Rice Blast, etc.), provides confidence scores, and prescribes step-by-step treatment plans.

Smart Farming Plans — An interactive planner that generates personalized crop calendars. Farmers input their crop type, farm size, location (Nigerian state), soil type, and season. Gemini produces a week-by-week timeline of activities with NPK recommendations and weather advisories.

Market Intelligence — Real-time crop price tracking across Nigerian markets with AI-powered demand forecasting. Farmers get 'best time to sell' recommendations, export opportunity alerts, and price volatility warnings — all in Naira.

Voice Assistant — A speech-enabled interface allowing farmers to ask questions hands-free in English, making the platform accessible to low-literacy users.

Inspiration

Nigeria is home to over 38 million smallholder farmers who face devastating challenges: 30-40% of crops are lost annually to preventable diseases, extension officer ratio is 1:3,000 farmers, and exploitation by middlemen is rampant because farmers have no access to real-time market pricing.

How we built it

Built using a design-first, multi-agent architecture approach with React 19 + TypeScript + Vite for the frontend, Tailwind CSS v3 for styling, shadcn/ui for accessible components, GSAP + ScrollTrigger for animations, Three.js + @react-three/fiber for WebGL effects, and Google Gemini 1.5 Flash API for all AI capabilities across vision, text, and voice modalities.

Challenges we ran into

  • Optimizing the Gemini API prompts specifically for Nigerian/West African crop diseases required extensive iteration
  • Balancing premium UI animations (Three.js, GSAP) with mobile performance for farmers using budget smartphones
  • Creating a voice interface that works reliably with Nigerian English accents
