Inspiration

Farmers often face unpredictability due to changing weather patterns and local soil conditions, leading to poor crop yields and financial instability. We wanted to create an accessible, data-driven platform that empowers farmers with localized, real-time advice to optimize their crop output and boost their overall harvest.

What it does

Our Farmer Advisory Website delivers tailored agricultural recommendations based on a farmer's specific location and local weather conditions. Key features include:

  • Location-Based Guidance: Recommends the best crops to plant based on local climate data.
  • Weather Integration: Delivers actionable updates and alerts to help farmers protect crops against upcoming heatwaves, heavy rain, or frost.
  • Yield Optimization Tips: Suggests optimal watering, fertilizing, and planting schedules designed to maximize harvest yields.

How we built it

  • Frontend: Built using HTML and CSS for a lightweight, mobile-friendly interface designed for easy readability.
  • Weather & Location Integration: Fetched real-time weather and geolocation data to dynamically generate custom agricultural tips.

Challenges we faced

  • Data Accuracy: Ensuring weather data was hyper-local so recommendations remain relevant and actionable.
  • Simplicity: Designing a clean, straightforward user interface that farmers can navigate effortlessly without technical confusion.

What we learned

  • How to effectively transform raw weather datasets into clear, actionable advice for everyday agricultural decision-making.
  • The importance of lightweight, mobile-first design for users in rural areas with limited internet bandwidth.

What's next for Farmer Advisory

  • Multi-Language Support: Adding localized language translations to reach a wider farming community.
  • Soil Health Analysis: Integrating soil data APIs to provide customized fertilizer and soil treatment advice.
  • AI Chat Assistant: Adding an interactive AI assistant to answer specific farming queries on demand. ## What's next for Farmer Advisery website
