FarmBridge: Giving Power Back to Indian Farmers
The Problem I Saw, Not Read
I'm from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Growing up, I've watched farmers from my hometown wake up at 4 AM, load their crops on tractors, and wait in mandis for hours — only to be cheated on weight and given prices decided by middlemen they have no choice in.
I've seen disasters destroy an entire season's work. I've seen families lose their farms because of debt. I've seen my neighbor's father break down after selling wheat at ₹3/kg when the fair price was ₹25/kg.
But I've also seen something else: the incredible hard work. A farmer and his entire family working from dawn to dusk, understanding soil, weather, and nature in ways no textbook teaches.
That's when I realized — the farmer isn't the problem. The system is.
Why FarmBridge Exists
Indian farmers lose ₹92,000 Crore every year to middlemen. 600 million farmers have no direct connection to the people who actually buy their crops. A buyer in Delhi pays 3x the price for vegetables because of 7 middlemen between the farm and their table.
What if we removed all the middlemen? Not with blockchain. Not with a complex supply chain. Just with trust, transparency, and technology that actually serves both sides.
What I Built In 2 Days (Using MeDo)
The Core Idea
A marketplace connecting Indian farmers directly to buyers. But not just a listing platform — a complete ecosystem.
Real Features That Solve Real Problems
Farmer Verification System Every farmer must verify their identity (Aadhaar + Land Records). This isn't just security — it's saying "I am real, I am genuine, you can trust me." For the first time in their lives, farmers can build digital reputation.
What Should I Grow? (The Game-Changer) Before a farmer plants seeds, they see:
What crops other farmers in their region are growing
Which crops have oversupply (price will crash)
Which crops have shortage (good prices guaranteed)
Expected price predictions
This prevents the tragedy I've seen: an entire village growing onions because everyone copied each other, then price crashes to ₹1/kg.
Live Mandi Prices Real-time data from Government of India mandis. No speculation. No middleman's fake numbers. Just pure market data.
Middleman Calculator Shows farmers EXACTLY how much they're losing:
Mandi price: ₹2400/quintal
Commission agent cut: -₹240
Transport: -₹150
Weighing fraud: -₹100
Farmer gets: ₹1910
vs FarmBridge direct:
- Farmer gets: ₹2800 (clean)
One farmer seeing this number once changes everything.
- Weather Forecasts + Farming Tips Using real OpenWeatherMap data, farmers get:
- Temperature alerts
- Humidity warnings (fungal disease risk)
- Rain forecasts
- Actionable advice in Hindi
Because most Indian farmers aren't literate in English. So every feature is fully bilingual — Hindi and English.
- AI Price Prediction When you click a crop on the Mandi Prices page, the app analyzes price trends and tells you:
- Is this the right time to sell?
- Should you hold for better rates?
What's the forecast?
Last Harvest Deals The problem my mom faces every day: vegetables go waste if not sold in 24 hours. So farmers can mark crops as "Quick Sell" with 50-60% discount. Buyers get fresh produce at mandi waste prices without going to mandi.
Why This Was Built With MeDo (Not Traditional Code)
I could have written this in React, Node.js, PostgreSQL. But that would take months.
Instead, I used MeDo to prove a different point: In 2026, the barrier to building isn't coding anymore. It's thinking.
I spent my time on:
- Understanding real farmer problems
- Designing features that actually solve them
- Building UI for users who can't read English
- Integrating real government APIs
- Iterating based on real feedback
MeDo handled the code. I handled the product thinking. That's the future of building.

What Makes This Special
It's Real — Not a hypothetical problem. I've seen these struggles with my own eyes.
It's Solvable — Using existing government APIs and simple technology, not magical futures.
3.It's Built For India — Hindi support, offline-friendly design, focus on trust over everything.
4.It's Just The Beginning — This MVP proves the concept. Next: Integration with crop insurance, farmer loans, logistics partnerships, bulk buyer contracts.
The Moment I'm Proud Of
When I realized the Middleman Calculator could show a farmer exactly ₹89,000 they lose on a single harvest. The app displayed it in red vs green comparison. The farmer's family could see the actual exploitation in numbers.
That's when I understood: FarmBridge isn't just an app. It's a tool for change.
What A Farmer Would Do Tomorrow
- Verify their identity
- Upload a photo of their field
- List their crops with honest pricing
- Check "What Should I Grow?" and see alternatives
- Get contacted by a buyer directly
- Complete the transaction
- For the first time — not wondering if they got cheated
That's the dream. FarmBridge makes it possible.
For The Judges
This isn't just Innovation + Technical Depth + User Value.
This is a 2nd year student from Jaipur building a solution to a problem that affects 600 million people because she saw it happening to her neighbors.
That's how the best products are born. Not in Silicon Valley boardrooms. In real observations of real struggles.
FarmBridge is just the beginning.
Built with MeDo in 2 days. For 600 million farmers who deserve better. For a India where farmers aren't exploited, but empowered.
