Farmer Marketplace Project Story

Inspiration
The inspiration for building a Farmer Marketplace came from observing how farmers often struggle to get fair prices for their produce due to middlemen and lack of direct market access. This motivated us to design a platform that bridges the gap between farmers and buyers, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.

What We Learned
While working on this project, we gained insights into:

  • The supply chain challenges in agriculture.
  • How digital platforms can empower rural communities.
  • Importance of user-friendly design for farmers with minimal digital literacy.
  • Practical applications of database systems, authentication, and APIs in real-world projects.

How We Built It

  1. Frontend: Designed with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for simplicity and responsiveness.
  2. Backend: Implemented using Node.js and Express for managing requests, authentication, and secure transactions.
  3. Database: MySQL for storing farmer profiles, produce listings, and order details.
  4. Features:
    • Farmer registration and login.
    • Direct product listing by farmers.
    • Buyer dashboard to browse and purchase.
    • Transparent pricing model.
    • Order history and notifications.
