1. Inspiration 💡

Agriculture is fundamental to human survival, yet farmers and agricultural workers face many challenges, including:

Lack of Awareness – Many farmers rely on traditional knowledge rather than scientific methods.

Soil Degradation – Overuse of chemicals and improper farming techniques harm soil health.

Climate Change – Unpredictable weather affects crop production.

Limited Access to Information – Small-scale farmers often lack access to agricultural research.

This was the major inspiration that was driving us and to address these challenges, our website aims to provide accessible, science-backed information on soil health, crop recommendations, and sustainable farming practices.

2. What it Does ❓

Key Objectives: Improve soil awareness among farmers and agricultural practitioners. Provide accurate crop recommendations based on soil type, weather, and farming conditions. Help farmers make informed decisions to improve productivity and sustainability. Empowering farmers with knowledge, technology, and profitability farming with integrated text-to-speech feature for better accessibility

1️⃣ Soil Information & Analysis:

Soil Type Database: Includes information on soil types such as clay, sandy, loamy, silty, peaty, and saline soils. Soil Composition: Explains the mineral content, water retention capacity, pH levels, and organic matter of each soil type. Best Crops for Each Soil: Lists the most suitable crops for different soil conditions. Soil Management Techniques: Provides tips on improving soil fertility and preventing degradation.

2️⃣ Crop Recommendation System

This feature suggests the best crops for a given soil type, climate, and region, helping farmers make informed planting decisions.

✅ How It Works:

  1. User Inputs: Soil type (e.g., clay, sandy, loamy). District

  2. System Processes Data: Uses scientific soil data and agricultural research.

  3. Output: Displays a list of recommended crops

3️⃣Study Material

Includes a wide variety of topics related to agriculture, soil, practices, conservation of resources and many more. Text to speech feature for interactive experience.

3. How We Built It 🛠

We used html, css and javascript to make this website and we took these steps in our Development Process to achieve our goal

  1. Research & Planning: Studied soil types, crop requirements, and existing agricultural resources. Identified common problems faced by farmers.

  2. UI/UX Design: Created wireframes and prototypes using Figma / Adobe XD. Focused on a simple, intuitive interface for easy navigation.

  3. Development: Designed a responsive website for both mobile and desktop users. Used interactive elements for better user engagement. Added functionality and backend services to the website.

  4. Testing & Debugging: Conducted unit and integration testing to ensure system stability. Collected feedback from potential users (farmers, agricultural experts).

We divided all our work in the above manner and then assigned a team of a few people to each team and worked in that manner.

4. Challenges We Ran Into 📉

As this is the first project of our team, we faced quite a lot of problems especially when integrating chat bot and backend processes. It took us quite some time to get an interface that satisfied us and it was a big hurdle, coming up with design ideas. There were a lot of problems in the start but with teamwork, we made our idea a success and executed it with all we had.

5. Accomplishments That We're Proud Of 🏆

Despite the challenges, we are incredibly proud to have completed the site on time, which itself is a big achievement for a team participating in their first hackathon. The dedication and hard work paid off, resulting in a resource that we believe will make a positive impact on agricultural practices.

6. What We Learned 📚

We learned a lot of things from this new and first experience, we learned how to coordinate with our team members, how to trust each other and not overthink about things, we learned to collaborate and contribute, we learned to write clean and useful codes and many other small lessons.

7. What's Next for FarmAI 🔮

These are the things we are planning to include in our website in near future:

AI integrated crop suggestion Field Management for multiple crops growth in one farm Farm related query solving by inputting a query through text/image/video/camera capture Irrigation and cultivation practices suggestion Weather and climate condition related news And many more features that can help a wide range of farmers all around the world.
