Marketplace view for customers to buy produce
Inspiration
Our team has gone to the local farmer's market every summer in Ottawa for as long as we can remember, however it only runs on Sundays and for specific weeks in the summer. We thought we could improve on the idea of a summer market by enabling customers to buy fresh produce whenever possible.
What it does
Farm2Table connects everyday people with local farmers to buy fresh produce.
How we built it
3 of us have light prior experience in React and 1 of us has prior experience with MySQL which lead us to choose ReactJS for our frontend, MySQL for our database.
Challenges we ran into
- Node.js kept breaking on us, so we had to troubleshoot and figure out to fix our issue
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We are all very proud that we learned about hacking culture, since it is our teams first hackathon
What we learned
- The workshops that we had access to at the hackathon, we were able to use Figma to create some project design
What's next for Farm2Table
- Implement an AI assistant bot to help customer with issues while using the site
- Integrate Google maps API for the customer to see how far the farm they are buying from is
