Inspiration

Football is more than just a sport — it’s emotion, community, and identity. Yet most fan experiences today are fragmented: you watch matches in one place, discuss them somewhere else, and compete in fantasy on another platform. We were inspired to build FanXI to bring everything together into a single, seamless experience where fans don’t just follow football — they actively participate in it. Our goal was to turn matchday passion into interaction, competition, and shared moments.

What it does

FanXI is an all-in-one football fan engagement platform.

It provides:

A personalized Home hub with live matches, upcoming fixtures, and community updates

A Matches section for real-time fixtures, scores, and match insights

A Teams experience where users discover, follow, and engage with clubs

A Feed that captures real-time fan reactions and discussions

A Compete section where fans predict match outcomes, manage fantasy teams, join tournaments, and take on challenges

Together, these features transform fans from passive viewers into active participants.

How we built it

FanXI was built using a modern, scalable architecture:

Frontend: A mobile-first UI focused on speed, clarity, and intuitive navigation

Backend: Cloud-based services for real-time data, authentication, and scalability

AI integration: Used for predictions, insights, and personalization logic

Design: A consistent bottom navigation system and clean visual hierarchy to keep the experience fast and familiar

We focused heavily on user flow — ensuring fans could move from discovery to competition with minimal friction.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was balancing simplicity with depth. Football fans want powerful features, but they also want information fast. We also had to carefully design the Compete experience so it appealed to both casual fans and competitive users without overwhelming either group. Another challenge was ensuring smooth transitions between live data, community content, and gameplay — all while keeping performance responsive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Designing a complete end-to-end fan journey in a short hackathon timeframe

Creating a unified experience that blends live football, social interaction, and competition

Building a clean, intuitive UI that feels familiar while still offering powerful features

Successfully integrating prediction and fantasy mechanics into a single ecosystem

What we learned

We learned that great fan experiences are built around context and timing — showing the right information at the right moment. We also learned the importance of designing for different fan types, from casual viewers to highly competitive users. Most importantly, we learned that combining community and competition dramatically increases engagement.
