Inspiration
The team wanted to blender fantasy and football betting to inform the youth about taxes and the risks of gambling.
What it does
It is a text-based C++ adventure RPG that outputs to the console with a user input-based Godot application to count and keep track of the data that the C++ file outputs.
How we built it
With the use of VSCode and C++ libraries, we developed a C++ text-based RPG utilizing a mixture of decision branches and randomization functions. Then we used the Godot Engine and GDScript to make an interactive UI that allows the user to input their decisions in the text-based adventure and visualize the game to be more interactive.
Challenges we ran into
Blending our different work environments between Godot and VSCode. While avoiding memory leaks and maximizing efficiency in code and UI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Developing a full-fledged interactive game and developing a semi-additional game application in Godot.
What we learned
Collaborating between different code and work environments and utilizing GitHub to connect our seemingly different projects seamlessly.
What's next for Fantasy Text Based RPG
Fully integrating the C++ text-based adventure into the Godot engine and so users won't need to boot both applications concurrent to get the full experience.
