We were inspired to make this project because we realized how much our group missed out on when it comes to pop culture, especially considering the impact it has on society today. Some of the members in our group are also passionate about certain categories, such as literature or music, and we took this project as an opportunity to educate each other about the different aspects of pop culture today.

While coding our website, we learned the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Other than coding, we learned some more about pop culture (including new movies, trending music, influential figures, etc.)

The main challenge when creating our site was creating a discussion forum for people to discuss various topics on our site. In the end, we didn’t implement this idea because we struggled to create a database and the forums may have content that is explicit, and we would have no way to censor it.

In the end, we are proud of the CSS and design of the website. Throughout building this website, we learned a lot more about stylistic aesthetics and web design.

We hope that in the future, more people will be able to use The Pop Culturist as an entertainment news outlet. We are grateful for this opportunity to share our passions and inform both ourselves and others on pop culture.

We built our project using HTML, CSS, and JS. You can try it out here:
