Inspiration
I love watching TV shows, and I wanted a way to encourage my friends to fall in love with my favorite shows without screaming it at them.
What it does
It spits out a random one of my favorite TV shows based on whether you want an animated series or a live-action series. It also has a trailer and a summary for each show.
How I built it
Brackets! I love live preview!
Challenges I ran into
This was the first moderately legitimate website I have ever tried to make, and certainly the first moderately legitimate website I have ever published, so there was a lot that I spent looking up and learning where to put, but that's the point, right?
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Although it is not currently the format I had originally considered (2 button choices rather than a drop down menu), it does almost the exact same thing I had originally wanted.
What I learned
I learned a lot about buttons, linking within a page, classes and IDs, and even dropdown menus despite that I ended up not using one in the end.
What's next for FanGirl
I want to make the output from the randomizer be able to link within the website so that they don't have to scroll and use their brain to see what goes with the randomizer's choice. I already put the endgoal links in the titles of each show but I didn't succeed (yet!) at having the output link to those titles. Additionally, I want other choices for the user, like perhaps loosely "Comedy/Drama/Any" or "23 minute/45 minute/Other/Any". To do this, I think I will need to use drop down menus, but I haven't decided yet. I want to add links to IMDB and MyAnimeList. The formatting needs a lot of work which I think would be a lot of fun for me.
