Inspiration

Our inspiration came from our business planning for an adult family home. As we researched the industry, we found that most of the documentation within adult family homes is still in paper form, and there wasn't a method to help workers document their workflow and medication records. Also, the seniors who live in adult family homes don’t have a good way to communicate with their families.

What it does

FamilyLink is providing a simple, private platform that connects families, residents, and caregivers in adult family homes by sharing daily updates, health information, messages, and memories — keeping families informed, emotionally connected, and providing peace of mind, while making caregivers’ communication and documentation tasks easier and more organized.

How we built it

We built FamilyLink with a no-code approach, We leverage V0.dev to build our prototype; there is basic mobile app functionality on V0.dev. We were using prompt engineering to fine-tune the product for easy adoption by the senior people and caregivers.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge that we ran into is switching mindset, as young people who were raised with technology, since we are designing a platform that provides people are around it with a low-tech environment. Therefore, we have to revise our perspective when it building an app as a servant.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we are working on something people usually overlook, and a market no one really wants to serve or learn about, even though they are the ones who need the most help and care. We are designing this app to help older people, making their day-to-day lives better and providing value for both families and care workers.

What we learned

What we learned along the way is that we gained more in-depth industry knowledge of adult family homes, but what is also important is the teamwork and team dynamics that keep driving us to accomplish this task and tackle the task list.

What's next for FamilyLink

What is next for FamilyLink in implementing our adult family home operations is to do a beta test to see the actual feedback from the families and how the workflow efficiency increases in the real world.
