Inspiration

Family trees are our visual representation of where we came came from and where our family is going. In the modern age, families have unfortunately grown apart, especially with foreign employment, immigration, and social media. It's one thing to stay in touch, but it's another to have a system that would literally help build a foundation for generations to take advantage of. As an immigrant, and having family and friends all over the world, I hope this app and technology were around long ago.

What it does

AlgoFamily makes use of tokenization. Although we are not ready for soulbound, identity NFTs, or government-backed NFT IDs, this system takes that concept, that once in place, would help people track family members, initiate inheritances, create wills, and other useful features like creating events and better communication between distant relatives.

How we built it

I built the software using Bolt and finished up using Cursor.

Challenges we ran into

Everything! Although I am familiar with crypto and the concept of NFTs and tokenization, I am not a developer. Using Bolt took a concept and got it far enough, but certain bugs required me to bring it to Cursor for fine-tuning and other features. Of course there's also the legal implications of the app - with constant changes in regulation across the globe, there is still a lot to be looked into as time goes on.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Proud that the site is even working functionally, with wallet integration and a beautiful UI.

What we learned

Blockchain tech is a complicated endeavor, especially for those who do not know how to code. Tools like Bolt enable those with an idea to easily take them and bring them to life. Although there is no 1-prompt shortcut to this early tech, platforms like Bolt, paired with other tools and resources, make such a complicated technology like blockchain more accessible and useful.

What's next for AlgoFamily

The future of tokenization is critical to the future of AlgoFamily. Tokens such as soulbound NFTs, government IDs, or probably something else we haven't seen or heard before, will play a role in AlgoFamily. Regulation and mass adoption must come first before this project can fully see its potential.
