Family Footnotes
Your family archive disagrees. Family Footnotes shows you exactly where.
Family Footnotes is an evidence-first UGREEN AI NAS Skill for checking factual questions against the letters, scanned documents, photos and voice recordings in an authorized private family archive. It is designed to show what sources support, where they genuinely conflict, and what remains unknown rather than producing a confident but unreliable family story.
The problem
Ordinary AI tools summarize what they find, but a polished summary may conceal disagreements. A contemporary letter may explicitly say a family's first permanent move to New York City occurred in September 1954, while a later recorded interview says September 1956. A summer 1955 travel photo does not resolve permanent residency. The actual question and provenance matter.
How the Skill works
- The user provides a question and authorizes particular NAS folders or albums.
- The Skill delegates discovery, document extraction, supported photo understanding, and optional audio transcription to registered Uliya experts.
- It examines the real returned statements and classifies the evidence as Supported, Conflicting, Unclear or Not Found. A contradiction must concern the same identified person and the same proposition.
- It presents an evidence report with returned source paths and only those page or audio offsets the platform actually supplies.
- With separate user approval, it can save the Markdown footnote. The original sources remain untouched.
The memorable demonstration
Ask: When did Grandpa first move to New York City?
Result: Conflicting evidence, unresolved. The Skill exposes two genuinely incompatible first-move claims and shows that the photo of a visit does not establish residency. It identifies the types of additional records that could help settle the question without falsely claiming such records exist.
Implementation and validation
The Round 1 submission contains the Markdown Uliya orchestration Skill and three directly linked Markdown references, plus a separate proposal PDF. The Skill has been checked against the official UGREEN Uliya Skill Creation Tool v0.7.3 and its 2.0.0 capability catalog. Official static-check status: static-pass, 0 errors, 0 warnings.
Confirmed supported capability families include ug-filesystem, ug-document, ug-photo, and ug-knowledge with their registered experts. Exact file format behavior, live cross-modal reasoning quality, and operations on a real UGREEN AI NAS remain untested. A synthetic archive and adversarial test cases are prepared outside the submitted ZIP for the finalist stage.
No real family data, unsupported executable payloads, third-party API calls or paid hosting is needed for the Round 1 Skill. AI assistance used: ChatGPT and OpenAI Deep Research.
