Family Connection

Inspiration

In Viet Nam – my country, there were many circumstances that the Covid-19 patients had already passed away but their family members knew nothing. It is not only due to isolation or lockdown but also due to the fact that there are many Covid patients so medical staff does not have enough time to connect or answer each family member.

What it does

We sign agreements with many hospitals in Viet Nam. By doing that, these hospitals will provide the status of Covid-19 patients frequently on the website. Family members input personal data of patients and find patient’s situations. This website is a bridge between the hospital and the family of the patients which brings information in real-time.

How we built it

First, I came up with the idea after observing the current difficulties that our medical staff and residents were facing. Then, I layout the website on paper and started designing it on the Bubble app. I also used Canva to design my website logo and other items.

Challenges we ran into

I understand the desire of the family member to know the situation of their family member the soonest and most detailed. They want medical staff to spend more time for them to ask about their relatives. But I also know that hospital and medical staff all have overload during the Covid epidemic, they don’t have enough time to answer so many questions from so many family members. How can we reconcile both needs?

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m just a grade 10 student and it’s the first time think about such a big issue. I have to learn about coding on Coursera, learn the Bubble app through an online course. I also have to ask for mentoring from my older brother, who is a software developer. Finally, I can create a website on my own. The thought that the website will help many people in the Covid-19 epidemic also makes me proud so much.

What we learned

I think I’ve learned a lot of computer skills after finishing this website, as well as thinking of ways that put information together in order to bring a comfortable experience to users. However, the most important thing is that I learned to empathize with difficult situations in the process of finding ideas and materials for the projects.

What's next for Family Connection

With my intention, Family Connection can be expanded to connect with as many hospitals as we want, even outside of Vietnam. If I can reach an agreement with targeted hospitals and meet all their satisfaction, I will approve access rights to all the hospitals around the world. With my website, I hope that I can help many families of Covid-19 patients, support them to be resilient and brave to overcome difficulties.
