FamiliAR is an immersive spatial app for Apple Vision Pro designed to help Alzheimer’s patients reconnect with their loved ones through interactive, memory-based experiences.
Relatives can upload photos of themselves through the FamiliAR Memory Care Portal, where images are transformed into vivid spatial memories. Inside Vision Pro, the patient experiences these memories as lifelike visuals accompanied by familiar voices generated via ElevenLabs voice cloning.
Through gentle and personalized quiz-like interactions (“Who is this?”, “Where were we here?”), FamiliAR helps assess recall patterns and encourages emotional recognition — turning memory care into a shared, sensory experience of love and rediscovery.
How we built it?
Apple Vision Pro SDK (RealityKit + SwiftUI) for immersive spatial interfaces and interaction design.
ElevenLabs Voice Cloning API for personalized narration using the voices of loved ones.
Supabase for secure photo and audio storage, metadata tagging, and user authentication.
React + Tailwind + Framer Motion for the Memory Care Portal’s web front end, enabling relatives to upload, label, and manage photo memories with smooth animations and accessibility-focused design.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out the Apple Vision Pro connection to macOS caveats! But it felt beyond amazing to see an app we have developed fully work inside of such revolutionary and unique technology.
