Many patients in a health-care setting require continuous monitoring to remain safe and to achieve maximal health. However, health-care professionals are severely overworked and could not devote the time necessary for ideal patient monitoring. To address this issue, we are designing and implementing a complete monitoring solution which utilizes the intricate motion-tracking capabilities of the Myo armband in conjunction with the Bluetooth capabilities of widely-available Android phones. Any motions indicative of a medical emergency is automatically relayed to an online database via an Android application. The status of all registered patients can be monitored by relevant healthcare personnel via a web application which updates in real-time.
