Inspiration

Falling Cubes was inspired by the fast paced and colorful style of Fluffy Fall. We wanted to capture that same sense of constant motion and excitement while adding our own vision, mechanics, and personality to create a unique experience.

What it does

Falling Cubes challenges players to control a cube in free fall while avoiding walls, traps, and dynamically generated obstacles. Players drag their finger on the screen to guide the cube and collect coins, all while chasing higher scores, unlocking new cubes through a gacha system, and competing on global leaderboards.

How we built it

To create Falling Cubes, we combined several powerful tools. Blender was used to design the 3D cubes and environment elements, giving the game a clean and expressive look. VSCode handled all programming tasks, allowing us to structure the gameplay systems and logic efficiently. Photoshop was used for icons, UI elements, and visual polish. Additionally, we generated some 3D objects with GenAI, which helped speed up the creative process and expand our visual variety.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing the infinite tube system. We needed to find the right number and variety of tubes to prevent the game from becoming boring or repetitive. This is why the tubes and obstacles appear in a random order, creating a fresh experience each run.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are especially proud of the tap to move system that allows players to drag their finger smoothly across the screen. This mechanic gives precise control and makes the gameplay feel intuitive and responsive.

What we learned

Throughout development we learned how to use mobile gesture systems more efficiently and how to manage camera behaviors to support responsive and dynamic gameplay.

What's next for Falling Cubes

We plan to add more cubes for customization, new game modes, additional cube designs, battle passes, and seasonal events. Our goal is to keep expanding the experience and offering fresh content for players to enjoy.
