Inspiration: Disaster response is often fragmented across forecasting, financial assessment, and emergency coordination. We wanted to bring these together into one intelligent platform.
What it does: Visualizes disasters and identifies at-risk properties. Estimates potential financial damage and prioritizes high-impact actions. Helps dispatch crews and track recovery progress. Coordinates emergency notifications and routes residents to available assistance.
How we built it: We used React, TypeScript, Vite, MapLibre, Python, and FastAPI, integrating disaster data sources, financial impact models, AI-assisted messaging, and Photon communication workflows.
Challenges we ran into: Connecting disaster intelligence, financial modeling, interactive mapping, and emergency response into one coordinated system.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: Built an interactive disaster simulation platform with financial risk estimates, actionable response plans, work-order tracking, and simulated emergency communications.
What we learned: How to connect geospatial data, financial risk modeling, and operational workflows to support disaster-response decisions.
What's next for Operation Storm: Expand real-time data integrations, develop a grounded AI response assistant, validate live communications, and improve predictive accuracy.
