Inspiration
I got the idea for this project by scrolling through social media one day and coming upon a piece of false information. I thought little of this post, until I saw that it had received thousands of likes and shares. I was extremely surprised on how this piece of information was spreading, and that it was fraudulent! I was driven to educate others on fake news, and I decided to use my knowledge on Machine Learning to solve this issue.
What it does
This project is a page that takes in text, and predicts whether it is fake news or not.
How I built it
I used my previous knowledge of machine learning, along with help from the internet to train and test the prediction model.
Challenges I ran into
I ran into problems with the dataset that I was using, but at the end I was able to get it to work just fine.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that I got the system to finally work, but there is definitely room for improving the accuracy of the model.
What I learned
I learned about natural language processing while working on this project.
What's next for Fake News Detection
As I mentioned previously, I would definitely want to work on improving the accuracy of this model, which I could do by increasing the data set that I used.
