Inspiration

FairSpace was born from a real workplace experience that revealed the need for a platform where incidents could be reported anonymously. Witnessing the impact of silence, we envisioned a solution that empowers victims to report harassment confidently. FairSpace provides a secure space for anonymous reporting, enabling individuals to stand against injustice without fear. Our goal is to turn workplaces into places where every person's potential can thrive.

What it does

FairSpace aims to address workplace discrimination, harassment, and bias by providing a platform for employees to report such incidents anonymously. The app also serves as a resource hub for promoting a more inclusive and equitable work environment.

How we built it

The "FairSpace" app was developed using React, a popular JavaScript library for building user interfaces. Firebase was integrated to provide a scalable backend infrastructure, allowing for real-time data storage and authentication.

Challenges we ran into

Due to not having a backend system and limited resources, implementing cloud messaging features was quite challenging. This made it impossible to provide real-time notifications and updates to users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges and limitations, we have successfully developed a functional app that addresses a specific need - encouraging users to report incidents and contribute to a safer workplace. By providing a platform for reporting incidents, we are contributing to raising awareness about workplace issues and fostering change within organizations. Our app has the potential to make a positive impact on workplace culture.

What we learned

Through FairSpace, we've experienced firsthand how technology can be a catalyst for positive change, promoting respectful workplace environments. The process of building FairSpace exposed me to developing applications with serverless technologies which contributed to my growth as a software engineer. I also learned the importance of user focused approach in software design.

What's next for FairSpace

As awareness of FairSpace grows, we look forward to organizations adopting our app to empower their employees, address workplace issues, and foster a culture of inclusivity. We welcome collaborations with organizations, NGOs, and government bodies to amplify FairSpace's impact.

As we receive feedback from users, we plan to enhance the features of the FairSpace app. Our vision is for FairSpace to become a standard tool for promoting workplace equity.
