Inspiration

Our idea has its roots in the expensive medical and health insurance in Switzerland. We intend to make the user as aware as possible about their current health and medical condition. We in turn allow the health insurance companies to come and learn from the data as well and provide incentive for healthy and regularly working out individuals who can get discounts given their monthly physical activities. User, whether it be insurance company or the owner of the data himself, can get access to different statistics regarding the data and get an insight regarding their health standings over the time.

What it does

Educates the user and health insurance companies about their user's health standing and how their activities have been so far. It also provides the safety and security of immutability of data by using blockchain; data once entered cannot be altered or removed.

How we built it

  • We used Hyperledger Composer to deploy a blockchain, used to store the insured client's data in an immutable way
  • We used Tensorflow Lite to convert images into meta data, which describe what is in the photo without having to share it
  • We used a Dash coupled with flask to create a dashboard for users and insurances navigate through the data

Challenges we ran into

The transition phase from 'believes' to implementation took the longest time, and had us running into multiple iterations before we started working towards something concrete. One of our team members left midway project because of ailment, and left us with no front end expertise; which led to a lot of work responsibilities redistribution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That even though there were a lot of unforseen hurdles; Federico leaving, we never let the vastness of the challenge and its impending pressure built on top of is. We are happy that we didn't spend the whole time working like monkies, rather than sightseeing the city, making new friends, meeting mentors gave a lot of valuable ideas along the way that helped us shape our idea and thoughts better.

What we learned

Patience.

What's next for SID

The next step is to build upon top of it and make it go product ready. A comprehensive and engaging conversation with Dr. Kornelia Papp of SwissRE gave us a lot of insights regarding the Swiss market in terms of Health Insurance and what are the possible areas to explore. We intend to build on top of those and take the idea beyond the bounds of a hackathon!
