01 Inspiration

The inspiration that we gathered from our group is from our desire to help promote gender equality and to fight against gender inequality through our expertise of nutrition. We are dedicated to finding ways in which we can provide nutrition to those in need, especially towards women with higher nutritional needs, such as during pregnancy/breastfeeding/postpartum.

02 What it does

At the household level, it guides families to distribute food fairly without any arguments or shame. It makes sure pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and girls get the nutrition they need first, not what's left over.

03 How we built it

With the use of the blueprints that we personally have made, we will manufacture our FairMeal model through the partnership of a manufacturing company. We will get the funding that we need through investments from angel investors and other startup investing programs. In order to efficiently transport our FairMeal Trays to households, we will use a drone to deliver our packaged FairMeal Trays and their food. This will be done with the partnership of a drone company.

04 Challenges we ran into

The challenges that we ran into was the development of the app, FairMeal. Due to our lack of prior experience in developing an app, we ran into many obstacles. However through our perseverance and determination, we were able to overcome these difficulties. We also needed to create accurate and quality blueprints, causing us to improve our graphic design skills. We also needed to research and learn much about the drones which were going to transport our product to households. In total, many of these challenges were difficult due to our lack of experience, however we overcame them through our desire to learn and help improve the world with our product.

05 Accomplishments that we're proud of

Throughout our journey in creating and planning our product, we overcame many obstacles in which we are proud of overcoming. Our prevail of these obstacles have led to the improvement and attainment of many valuable skills in which we are very proud of. Therefore we are thankful for the opportunity given to us to learn and help improve the world.

06 What we learned

Through our journey, we learned many valuable skills such as app development, graphic design, blueprint creation, and other research about the parts and function of drones. We have learned more about nutrition and have gained many eye-opening experiences that we are glad that we had the opportunity to learn in this hackathon. This includes the essential nutrients for pregnant women and the importance of folic acid. We also learned a lot about gender inequality and how there are many cultural norms that prioritize males over females. We learned this through research from many case studies, which are shown in our sources, provided in our website. These global statistics that convey how women do not get enough nutrients compared to males help us learn the importance of promoting gender equality in the world.

07 What's next for FairMeal

The future of FairMeal relies on the success of our product in this hackathon. If we succeed in advancing to the final stage and having our product be recognized, we believe that our product will be able to benefit the whole world by providing nutrients to those in need as well as spread awareness for the promotion of gender equality and nutrition.
